Warm greetings to you.
St Mark's is an oasis in the busy heart of Remuera, on the edge of the Newmarket shopping precinct. We have been part of Auckland since 1847, when the first church was built on the site.
We are a Christian church in the Anglican tradition that aims to provide compassion, care and support to its members, the community of Remuera and the wider Auckland community. We strive every day to live out our Mission Statement: "To know Christ and to make Christ known."
We offer a range of activities and opportunities for fellowship and personal growth. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we support and encourage each individual to develop their own personal strengths and gifts through prayer, biblical study, discussion forums, participation in groups, and Christian action.
St Mark's has a wonderful church building and Parish Centre facility, both of which are used and enjoyed by many within the church and the wider community.
We are currently in the Season of Ordinary Time, the longest season in the church's year. It stretches from the excitement of Easter (April) and the Day of Pentecost (May), to Advent (November), when we begin to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas. During this time there are no major feast days or celebrations, but the message of this season is anything but ordinary. We live most of our lives in 'ordinary time' doing 'ordinary things', but if we are attentive to the journey, there are many lessons we can learn and messages that can inspire, instruct and encourage us. As a church, we are challenged in this season to reflect on the ways we imitate Christ in word, deed and action as individuals and as a community of faith.
You are very welcome at St Mark's, whether it is to pray, to sit in quiet reflection, to visit just for a short time or to join our faith community and take part in the many services and other activities that happen here.

Sunday 20 September
Join us for a musical feast as our choir will be joined by the choir of Saint Peter's Anglican Cathedral, Hamilton. It will be our pleasure to welcome Rachael Griffiths-Hughes the Musical Director of Saint Peter's back to our Church having previously held the same position here. Supper will be served in the lounge afterwards for our guests and we would like to invite all those attending Evensong to join us and bring a plate, showing our Saint Mark's hospitality. A small team of experienced kitchen hands will be ready to receive offerings before the service starts.
