The Reverend Mark Sullivan

Mark was ordained Deacon in 1995 in New Plymouth after being selected for ministry training in the Diocese of Christchurch in 1992. From there he relocated to Auckland after marrying Sue in 1996. He served a short time in the Parish of Ponsonby before joining the Parish of Ellerslie and Mt Wellington until 1999. Mark was ordained Priest in 1998 before moving to Australia for 3 years after his wife Sue was transferred to Australia. Mark was appointed Honorary Associate Priest in the Parish of South Yarra before returning to Auckland as Priest-in-Charge of the Parish of Ellerslie and Mt Wellington during a 9 month interregnum. From there he filled a relieving Chaplaincy role at Diocesan School for Girls, moving to the Parish of Panmure as Associate Priest when this was completed. Mark was Vicar of Royal Oak from 2003 to 2008.
Nicholas Sutcliffe
Organist & Director of Music
Born in Auckland, Nicholas Sutcliffe has been Organist & Director of Music at St. Mark’s Church since January 2009. He is also a student at the University of Auckland studying Music - Harpsichord with James Tibbles, Organ with Dr. John Wells and Conducting with Dr. Karen Grylls. He is presently the Chapel Organist at Dilworth School, where he teaches organ and accompanies the Choirs, and plays at St. Cuthbert's College for Girls in Epsom. In 2006 and 2008, Nicholas was awarded 2nd place at the New Zealand Organ Competition in Wellington and Auckland respectively, as part of the annual Organists’ Congress, for which he has been a featured organist over several years. Until October 2008, Nicholas was the Music Foundation Organ Scholar of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland. In addition to working with the Cathedral Choir in playing and conducting roles, he also held a L.C.M. Saunders Choral Scholarship and is an Alumnus cum Laude of the Cathedral Music Foundation for services to the Cathedral Choir over 8 years. Nicholas is an active singer, having been a member of the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir 2005-6, who toured to Hong Kong and China to the World Choral Olympics, claiming the title of “Choir of the World” at this event. Presently, he is the Bass Section Leader of the New Zealand National Youth Choir, directed by Dr. Karen Grylls.
Benneth Gilbert
Parish Administrator
Benneth has been associated with St Mark's for almost 30 years, firstly in the choir, then on Vestry. She still sings in the choir, and has been Vestry Secretary and People's Warden in her St Mark's career. After a long career at AUT, Benneth is now in the Parish office from 9.00am to 2.00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. At 2.00pm, a valued volunteer takes over "minding the shop" until 3.00pm.
